Page 1 Key challenges Procter & Gamble (P&G) were looking to partner themselves
with a 3PL provider who could provide co-packing services for
Retail Ready Packaging (RRP). P&G required co-pack services
for the manipulation of 4 key shampoo brands into Tescos RRP
format. RRP is of increasing importance to P&G as it allows retail
partners to stock their shelves more quickly and conveniently.
Within RRP P&G products are transferred from product bundles
into a format that better fits the shelves of retailers. The benefit
of RRP to P&G is that products are displayed in-store in a more
superior way and so will be more attractive to consumers. P&G sought a comprehensive co-pack solution, DHL Exel
Supply Chain has been awarded this business on the strength of
its capabilities and understanding of the market, and ultimately
its partnership approach. Background Project was a totally new start-up, as this activity was
not undertaken by any other provider Expected co-pack volumes of 3.01million cases per
annum, with an opportunity to increase to a total of
5.7million cases per annum RRP co-pack activity for P&G was ultimately to meet
the requirements and deadlines of Tesco Following DHL Exel Supply Chains tender win in mid-
May, P&G required a contract start date of July 1 st 2006, this allowed 6-weeks to implement a co-pack
solution prior to start-up Co-pack area:
